Basic Guidelines

  • Let us know of any physical limitations, injuries or stress you might be experiencing at the moment.
  • Enter the shala quietly and allow for peaceful environment during the practice times.
  • Practice is best taken on an empty stomach – at least 3 hours after the last meal.
  • Women should take two to three days of rest (“ladies’ holiday”) during their menstrual period and avoid inversion postures during the rest of the period.
  • Please take a shower before coming to the class and do not use perfumes.
  • Bring your own yoga mat and the towel for adjustments. If you don’t have a mat, you can get one in the shala.
  • Wear light, comfortable and elastic clothes. Avoid wearing jewellery.
  • Maintain your yoga mat, carpet and clothes clean and odour free.
  • Focus on your own practice and the given sequence – try to avoid being disturbed by looking around.
  • Remember that learning takes patience and acceptance of our own limitations. Be forgiving to yourself while you are working your way over these limits.
